Sibylle Geiger is a Swiss artist who has been living in Italy for many years, coming here for love but also working here for most of her career.
She dedicated her life to the theatre, film and painting. An eclectic, nonconformist figure, Sibylle travelled all over Europe from a very young age, touring with major theatre and film productions. She met some of the greatest artists of the twentieth century on the lively art scene in Paris in the ’40s, then in Basel with Group 33; she worked with set designers, costume designers, actors and directors who went down in the history of the visual arts of the twentieth century.
This website is about her long career, which only recently received public recognition in a series of retrospective exhibitions of her work. Hundreds of sketches of costumes and scenes, dozens of paintings, testimony in her own hand, newspaper articles and publications are represented by a selection demonstrating her outstanding artistic and human experience.
